My Skincare Routine

Woah say whaaat? Kristy is actually writing a beauty related post? Never.
Yes my friends, it is happening and what better way to start than telling you all my everyday skincare routine. Hurray! Or not, but hey, its fun to share stuff and that's what blogging is all about! Oh dear, I have had enough Haribo Starmix and Galaxy Cookie Crumble today.

Now, I am probably not a good person to be writing such a thing because if you saw the state of my sore blemish skin, you would run a mile from these products. However, I am pleased to say that I have finally found a routine I am happy with. This routine helps my skin stay clean, my pores stay small and my face is thanking me for being so calm.

Garnier Soothing 2 in 1 make-up remover - £2.99
If there was one thing that I was always doing wrong, it would be cleansing my face without removing my make up first. So I wanted to buy something that would remove my makeup with no rubbing, be good for sensitive skin and contain oil to keep my skin balanced. Perfect - Garnier have answered my wishes and this make-up remover is no disappointment. It contains plant extracts and Pro-Vitamin B5 which is combined when shaking the bottle. The blue liquid is a make-up removing oil and the clear liquid is cleansing water. It removes every last smudge, ready for cleansing.

Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser - £4.29
Now its quite obvious that I was drawn to this product because of its name. Clear Skin, Oil Balancing and Moisture are all words that your skin worships. I am yet to see whether this antibacterial moisturiser is really doing its job as my skin is still very oily. I have always been told that stripping the skin of its natural oils will just mean that more oil will be produced. So I decided to turn the tables and give my skin the oil it is well known for. Unfortunately, this does not illuminate shine for me. It does however keep my skin feeling moisturised and I feel like it can breathe as the texture is very light. Zinc is also a great weapon when it comes to acne.

REN Clearcalm 3 Clarity Restoring Mask - £30
I cannot thank Kate enough for defying how good it is to buy into the REN Clearcalm Range. As silly as it sounds, this was actually a big step for me as I hate being disappointed and there is nothing worse than spending lots of money on something that won't give results. Now, I am yet to give a full honest review on this mask as I cannot see any long term improvements. However, after using this twice a week since January, I know my skin is thanking me for having its "spa day" and a relief from all the stress I put it through. The smell and softness it leaves on your skin will also make you feel like you have visited the spa. Expensive, but a decent treat.

REN Jojoba Microbead Purifying Facial Polish - £18
REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser - £18
Here are my little babies, my children, my beloved twins. The Clearcalm 3 Clarifying cleanser is also something I have been using since the start of this year. It definitely cleans deep, without being harsh or stripping my face of its natural oils like those other pesky drugstore cleansers. When used Morning and Night, your skin will thank you by feeling fresh all day. I would say this cleanser is a must if you suffer with blemish prone skin - although my spots have not improved, my skin is clear, calm and REN promise to do what they say on the tin.
Use this Jojoba Microead Facial Polish 2-3 times a week to give your skin a gentle exfoliation. I have never had softer skin after using this. I have noticed a significant difference in my skin since treating it to this purifying delight and dead skin cells are no more! Which is a great answer for dealing with blemishes. This Facial Polish is part of their sensitive range so no harsh scrubs involved.

Have any of you tried any of these products or use them on a regular basis? I am always so interested to hear people's thoughts. If there is anything magical that has transformed your blemish prone skin then I would love to hear.

  1. I really want to try RENs Clearcalm clay cleanser and the serum they do in that range too :-) I use that Simple moisturiser and found the exact same as you - lovely product to use but doesn't help oil that much xxx

  2. Lovely post, really enjoyable to read :)
May I ask what nail polish you're wearing? xx
